The Jennian Homes Mother’s Day Fun Run and Walk at the Woodside Rail Trail in Greytown on Sunday, 13 May 2018 is one of several events across New Zealand, supporting the Heart Foundation.
The 5km run/walk will take place along the Greytown Rail Trail starting at 10am on Sunday 13 May. Why not hit the streets and run, walk or have a leisurely stroll with your mum, daughter, sister or a group of girlfriends this Mother’s Day? It will be a wonderful way to start the day and you’ll be doing your bit to beat heart disease and keep more families together. All participants will receive an event t-shirt designed by Dick Frizzell.

The Jennian Homes Mother’s Day Fun Run/Walk is held in May of each year in support of the Heart Foundation’s ‘Heart Foundation for Women’ campaign. Separate events are held in all Jennian franchise areas nationwide, to encourage women of all ages to band together and hit the streets for a run, walk or leisurely stroll – loving their hearts. In 2017, over 10,000 women took part around the country and it is fast becoming an iconic event.
Anna O’Connell reports on the day
We had approx. 50 walkers/runners on the day – and about 6 organisers/volunteers – but there were over 70 people who registered for the event and I imagine we’d have had quite a few more if the weather had been better. The most positive aspect was that many of the participants were from out of Greytown and were using the Trail for the first time. They were all extremely complimentary about the Trail and indicated they’d be back to walk or bike it again.
